Fear of flying in a small sport plane
Many articles, discussions and advice on this topic. But we would like to explain why you dont have to be afraid fly even with small sports planes.
At present, every owner of an aircraft has to keep the aircraft in working order according to valid Czech and European laws and standards and to observe all measures according to the manual for the maintenance of the given aircraft, airframe and engine. For sport aircraft in the Czech Republic, the technical condition of a small sport aircraft is checked by a technical inspector from the LAA (Amateur Aviation Association), every two years or every year, depending on the type. In the event that any maintenance work procedure is not followed, the aircraft inspector will suspend the operation of the aircraft, so-called ground it. Only after the defects have been rectified by the owner or operator will the technician inspect the aircraft and, if everything is in order, then put the aircraft into operation. This only to the technical condition of small sport aircraft. So you don't have to worry that the plane you fly will be in poor technical condition.
Very often we also encounter the attitude of customers that they are afraid of heights. Well, some of us pilots are also afraid of heights, even if we don't admit it. For example, when we stand at the top of a vantage point and look from top to bottom, we are also afraid. From our experience, however, we really have to assure you that in a small sports aircraft, when you fly above the ground 150 to 300 meters, or even higher, you will not even succeed. It's a paradox, but all our customers after the flight always claim that the flight altitude is really cool, thinking that the altitude will cause them problems. Therefore, you do not have to worry about altitudes from a given flight at all.
Sometimes we also meet with passengers that they are afraid of nausea and that they will not vomit during the flight. On this topic, we just want to recommend that the night before the flight is not good to drink hard alcohol and not eat like a pi...., and also uncertain very heavy meals. Of course, some of you, even if you stuffed yourself with a pork knuckle with a good beer just before the flight, then you won't have anything. Everyone has their limits, which they certainly know personally and it is good to follow. Otherwise, even if you happen to feel sick on a small sports plane during the flight, all you have to do is tell the pilot in time and he will immediately return to the take-off airport or land at a nearby airport. In the Czech Republic, there are small airports near almost every major city.
